Sanctions and the Prohibition (23/10/19 08:00:40)
The present and thoroughly simplistic captain of the large north-American conglomerate meta-state uses economic sanctions to punish those who refuse to bow to his latest whim. In the short term he might with some right present it as a successful pressure or punishment. But on the long term it stimulates below-board economies run by criminals or semi-criminals (South-America) or development of hi-tech competitive technologies that render the US less relevant (China).
The prohibition on alcohol served to establish and consolidate organised crime in the US. The lesson from this failure is being ignored Over There. We others might wish to refresh it and see where the lesson applies today.
